Even the cold of winter can’t dampen Coney Island’s energetic atmosphere!

Every year, the Coney Island Polar Bear Club hosts its popular New Year’s Day Plunge — when daring souls don bathing suits and costumes to take a quick dip in the Atlantic Ocean for fun and charity.

Despite the cold and the rain, hundreds participated in the 2022 plunge — which was held with safety in mind due to the pandemic — and the event raised more than $47,000 for a number of local Coney Island organizations, including the New York Aquarium, the Coney Island History Project, and the Alliance for Coney Island.

Although Ruby’s is normally closed for the winter season, we DO open every New Year’s Day for the plunge. Whether you plan to participate in the Polar Bear Plunge or just miss the Coney Island Boardwalk, make sure to swing by Ruby's every Jan. 1. We’ll warm you up!
